Common warts are small, grainy skin growths that occur most often on your fingers or hands.
Common warts are caused by a virus ( Human papilloma virus -HPV) and are transmitted by touch. There are more than 120 species of Human papilloma virus
Types
Common Warts
Common warts usually grow on your fingers and toes but can appear elsewhere. They have a rough, grainy appearance and a rounded top.
Plantar Warts
Plantar warts grow on the soles of the feet. Unlike other warts, plantar warts grow into your skin, not out of it.
Flat Warts
Flat warts usually grow on the face, thighs, or arms. They are small and not immediately noticeable. Flat warts have a flat top, as if they have been scraped. They can be pink, brownish, or slightly yellow.
Filiform Warts

Periungual warts grow under and around the toenails and fingernails. They can be painful and affect nail growt
Filiform warts grow around your mouth or nose and sometimes on your neck or under your chin. They are small and shaped like a tiny flap or tag of skin. Filiform warts are the same colour as your skin.
Genital Warts
Genital Warts or Condyloma is a medical condition caused by a particular strain of a virus known as HPV which stands for Human Papillomavirus.
Molluscum Contagiosum or Water wart, although they are not wart but a water filled bumps of skin, highly infectious. Puckered or umbilicated scar is hallmark of diagnosis.
According to homeopathy, warts are caused by miasms, there can be psora, sycotic or syphlitic warts.
Management
We as a homeopath are getting very frequently patients of different types of warts. Unfortunately most patients try to get remove them either by cutting, burning, chemical cauterizing or even applying detergent powder with lime. Removing wart by external application be it by cutting is never advisable , in most cases condition flare up.
Wart should always be treated with proper antimiasmatic homeopathic remedy. Considering wart just as a local disease is against homeopathic philosophy.
Never try to self medicate yourself even by homeopathic medicine , if the same drug has done wonder for your friend. Homeopathy is science of individualisation and a homeopath can only decide your remedy according to your symptoms.
Although it is said that most warts are cured spontaneously or of its own within 6 months, but we have seen patients who were having warts since more than 6-7 years .
