The statement, “A man is sick prior to pathological changes,” is a core philosophical tenet of homeopathy, particularly as taught by the influential American physician James Tyler Kent (1849-1916) in his Lectures on Homoeopathic Philosophy.
This principle emphasizes the following concepts:
* Internal Disturbance: Sickness originates as a dynamic or functional disturbance of the internal, non-material vital force (the “real sick man”) before it manifests as perceptible physical or structural (pathological) changes in the body’s organs and tissues.
* Symptoms as Language: Symptoms are the outward expression of this inner disorder, serving as the language the body uses to communicate its internal state. Kent argued that the totality of symptoms is the only guide needed for the physician to perceive the nature of the sickness.
* Pathology as Result: Pathological changes (morbid anatomy), such as tissue damage, organ failure, or the presence of bacteria, are considered the results or ultimates of the disease process, not the disease itself.
* Focus on the Whole Person: A physician should treat the patient as a whole person, focusing on their unique pattern of symptoms, particularly mental and general symptoms, rather than merely addressing localized organ pathology.
* Timeliness of Cure: Waiting for gross pathological changes before intervening may render the patient incurable. The goal of the homeopath is to address the functional disturbance at an earlier, more curable stage using a similar remedy.
This case serves as the clinical verification of the above-mentioned pathology. This patient contacted me from Bhilai, Jharkhand, for the complaint of CSF rhinorrhea. Recently, she underwent surgery for CSF rhinorrhea, but within one and a half months, her leakage started again. The neurosurgeon found himself helpless after recurrence ( as told by the patient).
They visited nearby AIIMS, where a neurosurgeon advised a VP shunt as an alternative for Idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
Then she began searching for an alternative solution and came across numerous cases of cured illnesses through homeopathy. They took a Zoom consultation and expressed the concern of idiopathic intracranial hypertension and frequent UTI. She is also suffering from cardiomyopathy.
I have told them about the treatment procedure. My assistant Dr Zeya Ishrat, took the case over the phone, and after a detailed case analysis, I have transmitted Sepia 0/1 with her hair on 23 Dec 2025.
She made an amazing recovery.
Today, on January 13, 2026, over a Zoom call, she reported that her CSF leak had stopped completely.
Although she reported a headache, which is still a warning sign for intracranial hypertension. I have increased the power of medication and hope for better, will share the follow-up further.
