Every medical system has its own strengths and limitations, and the integration of different healing paths is the need of the hour. No single system can claim to cure every disease. Modern medicine excels in emergency care, diagnostics, and life-saving surgical interventions, while homoeopathy often demonstrates remarkable potential in chronic and difficult cases—especially when conventional options become limited or unsuccessful.
The present case discusses a patient suffering from recurrent Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) Rhinorrhea, a potentially serious condition generally managed by ENT surgeons and neurosurgeons. The patient had already undergone advanced surgical procedures without lasting success before approaching us for homoeopathic treatment through Medicine Transmission Through Hair (MSTH).
About the Disease
CSF rhinorrhea refers to leakage of cerebrospinal fluid through the nose due to a defect in the skull base. Patients commonly complain of:
Persistent watery nasal discharge
Increased dripping while stooping forward
Salty or watery sensation in throat
Anxiety after learning that the fluid originates from around the brain
Many patients become psychologically distressed after diagnosis, fearing that their “brain fluid is draining out.”
The condition is clinically significant because ascending infection through the nose can potentially lead to meningitis, making proper management essential.
Conventional Management and Its Limitations
Initially, many patients are treated conservatively with Acetazolamide (Diamox), a diuretic medicine prescribed to reduce intracranial pressure.
However, prolonged use may produce:
Weakness
Dizziness
Fatigue
Mineral loss due to excess urination
When conservative management fails, endoscopic surgical repair is often performed. In this procedure, tissue—commonly fat grafts—is used to seal the skull-base defect via nasal endoscopy.
Yet recurrence may occur because of:
Persistent intracranial hypertension
Violent sneezing or coughing
Patch dislodgement
In resistant cases, neurosurgeons may perform VP Shunt (Ventriculo-Peritoneal Shunt) surgery to divert excess cerebrospinal fluid into the abdominal cavity.
Unfortunately, even after these advanced interventions, some patients continue to suffer.
Case History
A middle-aged female patient from Azamgarh visited our Lucknow center accompanied by her son.
She had previously undergone:
Surgical repair for CSF leak
VP shunt surgery by neurosurgeons
Despite these procedures, the CSF leak recurred again.
Her son, searching for alternative options after repeated disappointment, came across our work and contacted us over Zoom consultation. The next day, they physically visited the clinic.
Clinical Presentation
The patient complained of:
Continuous watery nasal discharge, Aggravation on bending forward
Weakness and fear related to disease
Anxiety regarding recurrence despite surgeries
Associated piles complaint
Repeated imaging and interventions had already been performed before consultation.
Discussion About Medicine Transmission Through Hair
The patient and attendants were informed about our exclusive method of Medicine Transmission Through Hair (MSTH), in which individualized homoeopathic medicinal energy is transmitted using the patient’s hair sample.
After understanding the procedure, they agreed to continue treatment.
Case Analysis and Remedy Selection
After detailed case-taking and evaluation of constitutional symptoms, the patient was prescribed:
Natrum Muriaticum 0/1
Date of transmission: 3 February 2025
Basis of Remedy Selection
The selection was based upon:
Chronicity of condition
Emotional suppression and internalized grief
Anxiety with silent suffering
Weakness after prolonged illness
Chronic watery discharges
Head-related pathology with recurrent tendency
Sensitivity and reserved emotional state
Natrum Muriaticum is known for its deep constitutional action on chronic conditions with fluid imbalance and nervous system involvement.
Dr Ravi talked with patient over the zoom call on 22 May 2025 , there is no csf leak. She said that she tries to see if there is csf leak while stopping , she was advised not to try such procedures. She got advised to stay positive. Now she started trusting over the method of medicine transmission through hair. She said in initial 3 months she had a doubt over the method.
Dr Ravi again talked with patient over the zoom call on 6th Jan 2026.
She reported that there is no csf leak since last many months , but still she feels wet sensation inside nose
She is taking all precautions to avoid csf leak. We advised a MR Cisternography. His son also talked about wet sensation.
Dr Ravi talked with Patient over the zoom call on 17 May 2026. She is happy that for last 1 year she never observed any CSF leak. Sometimes she feel about wet ensation in nose due to spicy thigs in fdiet, ut it seems not the csf leak, but a sign of allergic rhinitis. Her piles complaint is also better As she already underwent CT scan and mRI is she requested not to go for scanning, she have back pain and in MR cisternography, anaesthesia is given hence she is unwilling to for for that.
