A case from Maharashtra
I would like to share an interesting case of a patient from Maharashtra who had been suffering from chronic peptic/duodenal ulcer-related complaints for approximately four years.
How the Patient Reached Us
Interestingly, this patient was referred to me by one of my grateful patients who had previously consulted me for CSF rhinorrhea.
During a visit to her relative’s home, she noticed that he was suffering from significant vomiting, abdominal discomfort, and pain. When she asked him about his condition, he explained that he had been suffering from peptic ulcer for nearly four years and had not obtained satisfactory relief despite various treatments.
She suggested that he consult our clinic online, and subsequently, an appointment was booked.
Case History
During the Zoom consultation, the patient explained that he had been experiencing:
– Persistent abdominal discomfort and pain
– Acidity and gastric complaints
– Frequent vomiting
– Symptoms persisting for approximately four years
– Poor response to previous treatment
He had undergone a prolonged course of treatment for his ulcer, reportedly for around six months, and had subsequently taken antacid medication, but according to him, the symptoms continued to trouble him.
As the patient was already aware of our method of treatment, he decided to proceed with consultation.
An Interesting Additional Complaint
During the detailed case-taking, another important symptom came to light.
The patient reported a recurrent tendency for shoulder dislocation. He mentioned that his shoulder would occasionally dislocate, apparently even with relatively minor movements or incidents.
This was an additional characteristic symptom that I considered while analysing the complete case.
The case was taken in detail by my assistant, Dr. Jayesh Rath, and the totality of symptoms was subsequently analysed for remedy selection.
Prescription
After analysing the case and verifying the symptoms with the Materia Medica, Nux Vomica 0/1 was selected.
Remedy: Nux Vomica 0/1
Mode of treatment: Medicine Transmission Through Hair
The patient’s hair was received at our centre on 29 August 2026, following which the treatment was initiated.
Follow-up – 21 September 2026
At the Zoom follow-up on 21 September 2026, approximately three weeks after starting treatment, the patient reported encouraging improvement.
According to his report:
– Acidity: approximately 80% better
– Vomiting: approximately 80% better
– Abdominal discomfort: significantly improved/resolved
– Shoulder dislocation: remarkably, he reported no episode of shoulder dislocation during these 21 days
The patient expressed considerable satisfaction with the improvement.
An Interesting Observation
What makes this case particularly interesting for me is that the improvement was not limited to his gastric complaints. The patient also reported that his recurrent shoulder-dislocation problem had not occurred during the follow-up period.
Treatment is being continued, and we will observe his progress over the coming follow-ups.
Conclusion
This case once again highlights the importance of individualised case-taking and consideration of the complete symptom picture, rather than focusing only on the diagnostic label.
The prescription in this case was Nux Vomica 0/1, selected after analysing the patient’s characteristic symptoms.
Treatment continues, and further follow-up will help us assess the sustainability of the improvement.
